Michael Karnes is a seasoned engineer and applied researcher with deep expertise in computer vision, AI, and intelligent system design. As Technology Leader for CybrCastle’s AI Vision Systems, Michael oversees the technical development of next-generation vision-based solutions that turn everyday cameras into powerful tools for real-time detection, monitoring, and insight. His work supports a range of applications including public infrastructure assessment, traffic optimization, anomaly detection, and physical security. He has led this multimillion-dollar government-funded program to develop AI-driven geospatial tracking and edge-computing solutions. He also built and managed high-performing technical teams responsible for real-time, embedded AI systems used in logistics, defense, and smart infrastructure.

Michael brings a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world innovation. He soon will have his Ph.D. in Photogrammetric Computer Vision, and has achieved a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University, where he led research in scene understanding and spectral imaging for surgical precision. His earlier innovations include designing smart materials for earthquake-resistant structures and bio-impedance devices for cancer detection.
